The Second Quantum Revolution represents a paradigm shift in the encoding, transmission, and processing of information. In the field of telecommunications, the use of Quantum Technologies promises advancements in multiple areas: solving specific problems that are insurmountable for classical computers, ensuring unconditional security in communications, and detecting electromagnetic signals in a highly advantageous manner compared to classical methods.
We present a review of the applications of Quantum Information Technologies (QIT) in the telecommunications sector, where quantum approaches can play a pivotal role in improving telecommunications technology solutions in the near future, complementing existing classical solutions. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive perspective on the impact of quantum computing, quantum communications, and quantum sensing in various telecommunications applications.
