On 6 February, the Galician Supercomputing Centre (CESGA) is organising the BrinQo – Quantum Computing Game Jam 2026, an inter-university meeting to promote quantum computing and technologies, where participants will develop a video game related to quantum computing.

The event, which is part of Quorum, will be developed during the 6 to 13 February, at the three Galician universities simultaneously: the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of A Coruña (UDC) and the Higher School of Computer Engineering at the University of Vigo (UVigo). Participants will have this time to work, individually or in teams, on creating a video game related to quantum computing, expanding their programming, creativity and problem-solving skills while introducing the possibilities offered by quantum computing.

Video game proposals and requirements:

A jury composed by professionals with specialised knowledge will be responsible for evaluating the participants’ proposals. To be considered quantum-themed, video games must have at least one of the following rules:

  • The graphic design or aesthetics of the game refer to elements of quantum computing.
  • The rules or dynamics of the game are inspired by quantum behaviours.
  • The video game uses a quantum computer or a quantum emulator to define internal variables with quantum randomness, or to execute part of the game.

Proposals will be uploaded to the itch.io platform, which contains information on the conditions of participation and code of conduct.

Calendar:

  • Registrations (until 3 February).
  • Game Jam:

Opening day (6 February): Presentation of the event at each of the collaborating universities, including introductory talks on quantum computing and video game development.

Project Development (6 February – 13 February): Participants will have eight days to work on the video games.

Awards ceremony (26 February): It will take place at CESGA.

Registration:

Registration is open for all those interested (over 18 years old).
