What can supercomputing do for your company? EuroCC Spain – RES concludes the EuroCC 2 project with a face-to-face conference in León.

EuroCC Spain – RES is organising the event Supercomputing: the technology that can transform your company on March 17, at the Scayle headquarters in León, which will serve as the closing event of the European EuroCC 2 project in Spain. This project aimed to put the private sector in contact with Spanish computing centres and technological hubs, creating a framework that allows companies to access and use this infrastructure, improving their general performance.

This event will be structured as an informative session to present the overall results of EuroCC 2 and real success stories by companies that have used the supercomputing, storage and data management capabilities offered by the Spanish Supercomputation Network (RES), among which is Cesga.

Euro CC 2 Use Cases: an open window to present and future applications of Cesga’s HPC and quantum computing infrastructure

Cesga has been developing pioneer HPC infrastructures, which are constantly evolving and adapting to meet our users needs. Our supercomputer FinisTerrae is at its third generation; in 2023, we added quantum computing to this high-performance infrastructure. In 2024, only a year after its deployment, our quantum computer QMIO opened to the scientific community.

The technological upgrade of the computing and data node, which is already underway thanks to NextGeneration EU/MRR/PRTR (PERTE Chip) funding, will involve an expansion and renewal of the equipment, associated services and data processing, storage and management capabilities of our centre. Therefore, the examples we will be able to see first-hand at this EuroCC Spain conference will be particularly relevant in terms of glimpsing the potential that Cesga’s new machines will bring far beyond the academic world: in a competitive reality where technology is used at all levels, companies that have already laid the foundations for how to use supercomputing to their advantage will be on the right track.

The conference programme will include sessions dedicated to presenting the overall results of the EuroCC 2 project, the services available to companies and public entities, ways to access these resources, and different success stories. To round off the event, participants will be able to see the Caléndula supercomputer in situ, on a guided tour, and find out how it works.
