On november 28, a new chance will open for all quantum enthusiasts in or near Spanish territory: CESGA (Galicia Supercomputing Center) is joining QIA’s Pan-European Quantum Internet Hackathon 2025 as a new node, providing access to this exciting international meeting to researchers and other groups of interest located in this area.

A team of CESGA’s leading experts in quantum computing will be on hand to provide guidance and technical support throughout the event. They will be able to help you to get the most out of the infrastructure and maximise your chances of overcoming the proposed challenges. Our colleagues, Irais Bautista, Iago Fernández and Guillermo Díaz, will have the additional support of Dutch simulation engineer for QuTech, Michal van Hooft, who will be travelling to Santiago de Compostela to join this coordinated effort.

How QIA’s Hackathon works?

The Pan-European Quantum Internet Hackathon is an international meeting taking place simultaneously in various locations. In the 2025 edition, participants will be able to join via Amsterdam (Netherlands), Dresden (Germany), Paris (France), Poznań (Poland) and Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The hackathon is articulated around a set of challenges that the different teams will have to tackle and solve in the most efective way through the use of quantum computation techniques. These tasks will focus on building quantum network applications, starting from a simulation of quantum communication and information processing protocols, and framing this simulations in an application scenario. Participants will then be brought together virtually to share results, possible solutions, different ways to approach the proposed problems and the difficulties they find along the way.
