On 17 and 18 December, Santiago de Compostela hosted the second edition of the International Quantum Business Conference 2025, an event of international significance where the main involved people in the quantum ecosystem attended. Researchers, technology centres, companies, universities and public administrations shared space and knowledge to position quantum technologies and artificial intelligence as the key for digital transformation, related to supercomputing.

Main topics

More than 70 international presentations, classified into Business Track, Scientific Track or Technology Transfer Track, gave assistants a global overview of the presence of quantum technologies in different fields, applications and regions:

  • Industrial use cases: The applications of quantum technologies in strategic sectors such as automotive, finance and healthcare.
  • Quantum-classical hybrid approaches: The combination of quantum and classical computing to solve current challenges.
  • Quantum Flagship: The strategic role of supercomputing centres as drivers of quantum innovation in Europe.
  • European Union-Japan collaboration: Cooperation between the European Union and Japan is one of the main requirements for accelerating the development of the quantum ecosystem.

The event was attended by some of the leading representatives of the ecosystem: Shintaro Sato (head of Quantum Laboratory Fujitsu Research), Carmen Cotelo (Galician Innovation Agency director), Román González (minister of Education, Science, Universities and vocational training in Xunta de Galicia), Lois Orosa (scientific director at Cesga) and Almudena Justo (international director at the Quantum Center – Fsas Technologies).

Cesga and Quorum Spain

Cesga has joined forces with Fsas Technologies (Fujitsu) and the regional government of Galicia to make the region a benchmark in this field. Lois Orosa, scientific director of the centre, participated in the first round table, contributing his vision of R&D centres as key players in technological transformation, driven by the convergence of artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

Andrés Gómez, application and project manager at Cesga, presented the results of the Quorum, which has been developing training, dissemination and connection activities for the quantum ecosystem in Spain, which includes entities such as Cesga, Gradiant, Xunta de Galicia, FsasTechnologies (Fujitsu), Fidesol, Itecam y QCentroid.

The director of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) recalled the milestones achieved in 2025: the Quorum project, 1HealthAI Factory and the participation in the European Quantum Technologies Conference 2025 in Copenhagen (Denmark).

In conclusion, the II International Quantum Business Conference has demonstrated the role of quantum computing in industrial transformation, highlighting the importance of use cases, advanced infrastructures, and international collaborations.

QUORUM SPAIN is a project subsidized by the CDTI and financed with Next Generation funds from the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
